Temple Bar Hotel Dublin is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join the team at our unique four-star hotel in the heart of the city.
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the hotel’s finance operations.
Your main focus is to assist the Finance Department with the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Your role includes the finance team in daily transactional accounting duties, maintaining accurate records of all financial documents, assisting with monthly and year-end reporting processes, working collaboratively with other departments to ensure financial procedures are followed.
An Accounts Assistant will be responsible for:
Processing supplier invoices and ensuring timely and accurate payments
Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Assisting with month-end close procedures and financial reporting
Managing petty cash and employee expense claims in line with hotel policies
Maintaining and updating financial records in a structured and organised manner
Supporting payroll processes and ensuring data accuracy
Preparing and submitting VAT returns and assisting with audit preparation
Collaborating with other departments and suppliers to resolve invoicing or payment queries
Ensuring compliance with financial controls and company procedures
Supporting the Director of Finance and Financial Controller with ad hoc finance tasks and projects
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Previous experience in a similar accounts or finance role (hospitality experience is an advantage)A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Opera) is desirable
Excellent organisational and time management skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A high level of accuracy and discretion when handling confidential information
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal departments and external suppliers
A positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and take initiative
A relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping is an advantage but not essential
