We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Apprentice Cabinet Maker / Joiner to join our team at O'Gorman Joinery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about woodworking and is looking to develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive and creative environment.This role is also ideal for individuals considering a career change later in life — whether you’re moving from an office-based role, a trade in another field, or simply seeking a new challenge. We provide hands-on training, patient mentorship, and the chance to build a tangible craft from the ground up, making it a rewarding path for those ready to bring their existing life experience into a practical, creative trade.Responsibilities:
- Learn how to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and plans to determine specifications and materials required for each project
- Assist with measuring and marking cutting lines on materials, using rulers, tape measures, and marking gauges
- Assist with cutting, shaping, and joining materials using hand and power tools under the supervision of a skilled cabinet maker
- Assist with assembling prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready for installation
- Assist with installing completed structures and fittings on site
- Learn how to ensure that all projects are completed on time, to the required quality standards, and within budget
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, architects, and project managers to ensure that all requirements are met
Requirements:
- Passion for woodworking and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Good math and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work on site when required
- Minimum education level: Leaving Certificate or equivalent
