Apprentice Mechanical Fitter
We currently have a position for an Apprentice Fitter to join our progressive team. On completion of this four-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified maintenance fitter, with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Maintenance Fitting. You will earn a salary while you learn, get a formal contract of employment, and gain a recognized qualification
What the programme looks like:
- 4-year structured programme of on-the-job experience and off the job in college
- Based in a factory environment learning about different areas of the operation
- Experience of working within fast paced sites and environments
- A framework of professional training modules
- Regular performance feedback and personal development planning
Key tasks/responsibilities will include:
- Work with steam, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, packaging machines, conveyors, elevators, mixers, pumps, valves and extruding machines etc
- Work with a variety of tools such as break press, guillotine, grinders, welding plants etc.
- Install, service, maintain, and rectify faults of machine tools, power and production equipment
- Dismantle, repair or make and fit new parts when performing plant maintenance
- Monitor conditions using modern maintenance techniques. Using a CMMS system (Pemac)
- Help in the maintenance of a safe company culture by always complying with the company’s health and safety guidelines while reporting any equipment or process issues to line manager.
- Additional duties as required.
Entry requirements: Leaving Certificate or equivalent

- Eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland for the full duration of the placement
- Must be fluent in English
- Must pass a colour blind test
- Confident communicator – able to tailor communication style according to the audience
- Enthusiastic and open-minded in getting the most out of the programme
