Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman to join our metal fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and fabrication drawings for various metal structures, components, and assemblies. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and workshop staff to ensure all drawings meet fabrication standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for metal fabrication projects using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Create fabrication and assembly drawings, including welding symbols, material specifications, and cutting lists.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications from clients and convert them into manufacturing-ready designs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and workshop supervisors to ensure designs are practical and feasible for fabrication.
- Revise and update existing drawings based on design changes, site measurements, or client feedback.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and company quality procedures.
- Maintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, site visits, and client meetings as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Draftsman in metal fabrication, steel structures, or a similar industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software.
- Solid understanding of fabrication processes, welding techniques, steelwork, and sheet metal manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication details, and construction schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of material grades, steel standards, and mechanical components is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Qualification in Engineering Drawing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in BOM (Bill of Materials) preparation.
- Familiarity with laser/plasma cutting files, nesting software, or CNC programming is a plus.
