The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for a Commodity & Sourcing Analyst to join our Central Commercial Team.
Working with various teams across the business, our task is to analyse commodity pricing, its impact on our business, support the procurement of products for our Own Brand (OB) and Private Label (PL) ranges and develop strategies and in reducing costs across the OB business.
This role will enable the successful candidate to gain an understanding of commodity, sourcing and value chain initiatives.
Responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to:
- Data Analysis: Analyse commodity pricing, its impact on our business and current market data using statistical methods and software to identify patterns and trends.
- Supporting the Sourcing team in delivery of the lowest cost Own Brand/tertiary products for the business.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Internal Stakeholders to understand their needs and provide business solutions
- Management, updating and maintenance of the Own Brand Cost Base file.
- Live, monthly and quarterly reporting on the financial impact to the Own Brand cost base.
- Monitor market developments, news, and events that could impact commodity prices.
- Cross functional engagement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collation & analysis of data to update Quotation Overviews (QO’s)/KPIs/dashboards/reports.
- Management and upkeep of contract information for compliance.
- Update and maintain the sourcing calendar for the department.
- Maintenance and management of e-Sourcing platforms /data systems.
- Ensuring compliance with Musgrave policies and procedures.
- Continuously challenging the status quo to identify ways and opportunities to simplify and optimise processes and ways of working.
The successful candidate will have/be:
- A min. of 4 years’ relevant experience.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen - problem-solving skills and analytically minded
- Excellent communicator, comfortable managing the expectations of stakeholders
- Experience partnering with business managers across different functions (finance, commercial, sourcing and IT)
- Experience working with IT /external providers to leverage technology as commercial enabler
- Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage a varied workload
- Advanced proficiency in excel, power BI and power-point and strong competency in other Microsoft packages is essential, especially with MS SharePoint, MS Planner, Automate, automation tools (e.g. MS Power automate suite), process mapping, robotic process automation.
- Market Knowledge: an understanding of commodity markets, including factors influencing supply and demand, events, and economic indicators.
- Self-motivated, proactive and open to develop and grow within the business.
