Position Overview:
As an Experienced Fine Dining Waiter, you will play an essential role in providing outstanding service in a busy, high-volume restaurant environment. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while managing multiple tables, ensuring flawless service from start to finish. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a passion for Italian cuisine and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exceptional Guest Service: Greet and welcome guests warmly, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable in a fast-paced, bustling environment. Provide personalized recommendations, taking into account dietary needs and preferences, and engage with guests to ensure their expectations are exceeded.
- Efficient Order Taking: Accurately take and enter orders, paying close attention to special requests, allergies, and preferences. Ensure the kitchen receives clear and accurate information, especially during busy periods.
- Course Timing & Coordination: Manage the flow of service, ensuring that each course is served promptly and at the correct temperature. Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service, especially during peak hours.
- Table Management in a Busy Setting: Handle multiple tables simultaneously while maintaining focus and providing each guest with individual attention. Keep tables clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the meal.
- Upselling and Recommending Pairings: Suggest additional items such as appetisers, wine pairings, and desserts to enhance the dining experience. Use your knowledge of Italian wines and the menu to recommend complementary dishes and beverages.
- Handling High Volume with Precision: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining high standards of service during busy periods. Stay calm under pressure and ensure that service remains efficient, professional, and welcoming despite the high volume of guests.
- Wine & Cocktail Expertise: Be knowledgeable about Italian wines and cocktails. Offer recommendations for wine pairings based on guests' preferences and the menu. Assist with wine service, ensuring proper pouring and presentation.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure every aspect of the service meets the restaurant's high standards. This includes table settings, the presentation of dishes, and maintaining a polished and professional demeanor at all times.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with a large team of waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management to ensure a smooth operation. Communicate openly and efficiently to anticipate guest needs and resolve any issues promptly.
- Guest Feedback and Problem Resolution: Actively listen to guests and address any concerns or complaints quickly and professionally. Ensure that any issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the guest, maintaining the restaurant's reputation for excellence.
- Post-Meal Service: Clear tables promptly after each course, assist guests with final drinks and dessert offerings, and present the bill accurately. Always ensure a smooth transition to the end of the meal, ensuring guests leave satisfied and with a positive impression.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven Experience in a Busy Restaurant: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a waiter/waitress in a busy, high-end dining environment, preferably Italian cuisine, where service needs to be swift, efficient, and precise.
- Fine Dining Knowledge: Strong understanding of fine dining etiquette, service standards, and proper table settings. Experience working in a fine dining or Michelin-level restaurant is a plus.
- Multitasking Ability: Ability to manage multiple tasks and tables simultaneously, while maintaining focus and delivering high-quality service even during peak service times.
- Strong Wine & Beverage Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Italian wines, cocktails, and beverage pairings. Ability to recommend and serve wines with expertise.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with guests, kitchen staff, and team members, particularly in a busy environment where clear communication is essential.
- Calm Under Pressure: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with the ability to remain calm and professional no matter how busy the restaurant gets.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service, even during busy periods.
