Fota Wildlife Park a not-for-profit organisation, is part of the Zoological Society of Ireland, and is located on 100 acres at Fota Island 10km east of Cork City. With an annual attendance of 430,000 visitors, our vision is to inspire people to understand and conserve the biodiversity of our natural world. The Park’s core values of conservation, education and research have ensured that we are uniquely placed to foster greater public understanding of the threats to plant and animal habitats and decreasing global biodiversity.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gates (Admissions) & Retail Assistant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be available midweek & weekends.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Meeting, greeting and admitting visitors into the Park. Handling all engagement in a pleasant and friendly manner.
- Dealing with membership entry and setting up accounts.
- Scanning online orders.
- Answering any general enquiries on entry to the Park.
- Advising visitors on all Fota Wildlife events taking place.
- Serving customers and handling transactions.
- Ensuring our store is clean and well restocked.
- Stocking shelves and monitoring stock levels.
Candidate Requirements:
- Have previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work within a busy team and on own initiative.
- Excellent IT skills with previous experience in retail systems an advantage.
- Fluent English
