As a member of the Gallagher Ireland Executive Leadership Team, the General Counsel for Gallagher Ireland will serve as the chief legal advisor for the business, responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the business with a particular focus initially on integration of acquired entities. This role involves providing strategic guidance, consultation, and support on a wide range of legal and compliance matters to ensure the company's operations align with legal requirements and corporate governance standards. The role will have joint reporting into the CEO of Gallagher Ireland and the General Counsel of GGB UK and EMEA.

As a member of the Gallagher Ireland Executive Leadership Team, the General Counsel for Gallagher Ireland will serve as the chief legal advisor for the business, responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the business with a particular focus initially on integration of acquired entities. This role involves providing strategic guidance, consultation, and support on a wide range of legal and compliance matters to ensure the company's operations align with legal requirements and corporate governance standards. The role will have joint reporting into the CEO of Gallagher Ireland and the General Counsel of GGB UK and EMEA.
How you'll make an impact
- Lead the legal aspects of the integration of acquired entities into Gallagher Ireland, with support from integration teams in the UK.
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and various departments within Gallagher Ireland.
- Work closely with the Gallagher Ireland compliance team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including insurance and corporate governance standards.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, with support from specialists in the UK legal team when necessary.
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes with support from specialists in the UK legal team, working closely with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the company's interests and mitigate risks.
- Stay informed about industry trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes affecting the insurance sector.
- Collaborate with global legal teams to ensure consistency and alignment in legal practices and policies.
- Lead initiatives to enhance corporate governance and ethical standards within the organisation.
About You
- Qualified lawyer in Ireland, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Proven track record in managing legal teams and providing strategic legal counsel.
- Strong understanding of Irish and EU laws and regulations related to insurance and corporate governance preferred.
- A team player with a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to make decisions and provide business-centric practical guidance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Right to work in Ireland.
