· The successful candidate will work as part of the Superannuation team providing a comprehensive information service to staff regarding the superannuation schemes which are in operation in Beaumont Hospital i.e. the Local Government Superannuation Scheme, the Single Public Service Pension Scheme and the St. Laurence’s Hospital Superannuation Scheme.
· She/he must have effective communication skills together with the ability to work as part of a team. The post holder must have excellent attention to detail, be able to work under pressure and have the ability to prioritise their workload.
Responsibilities
· Implement and support the administration of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme including the provision of annual benefit statements, leavers statements, Family Law calculations, superannuation refunds and any other calculations which may be required.
· Assist in the administration of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme and the St. Laurence’s Hospital Superannuation Scheme.
· Calculation of retirement benefits, estimated benefits and preserved benefit statements.
· Process staff retirements/non-pensionable gratuities/organise cheques and lump sum payments.
· Verification of service on current staff and former employees. Providing costings of this service when required.
· Organise, monitor and reconcile the payment/deduction of superannuation arrears.
· Registration of staff into the appropriate superannuation scheme.
· Assess termination of employment forms and process superannuation refunds where appropriate.
· Liaise with external stakeholders including accountants, financial advisors, solicitors and departmental staff from Dept. of Health, Dept. of Public Expenditure & Reform and the H.S.E.
· Assist in the calculation and updating of pensions.
· Assist in the implementation of circulars/instructions from the H.S.E., Dept. of Health and Department of Public Expenditure & Reform.
· Assist in the organisation and co-ordination of retirement planning courses.
· Assist with co-ordinating and organising the Beaumont Hospital Active Retirement Association.
· Project work that may arise from time to time.
· Undertake all other duties appropriate to the superannuation function which may be required from time to time.
Qualifications
Mandatory
1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutoryhealth agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section38 of the Health Act 2004.
Or
(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjectsin the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, includingMathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade Con higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.
Or
(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalentexamination in another jurisdiction.
Or
(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on theNational Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland,(QQI).Note1:
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in afoundation level paper is not acceptable.
Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Establishedprogramme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.
The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard ofsuitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
2. AgeAge restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (withinthe meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). Acandidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day ofthe month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
3. HealthCandidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable ofundertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate areasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. CharacterCandidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Irish health service
- Relevant experience working in a public sector superannuation setting
- Finance experience
