Overview of role:
The Head of Procurement and Supply Chain is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations across a multi-site healthcare network, including hospitals, outreach centres, and clinics. This key role ensures that all facilities within the network are supplied with the right materials, equipment, and services at the right time, quality, and cost, in alignment with clinical needs and organizational goals. The role will drive standardisation, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience across the network.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a centralized procurement and supply chain strategy across the healthcare network.
- Oversee group-wide sourcing, contracting, and vendor management to leverage economies of scale.
- Standardise procurement policies, processes, and inventory systems across all facilities.
- Establish and manage efficient warehousing, distribution, and last-mile delivery to hospitals and outreach centres.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of critical items including, medical devices, PPE, and consumables.
- Collaborate with clinical, finance, and operational leaders across sites to align supply chain efforts with patient care requirements.
- Drive digital transformation of procurement and inventory management systems, including EMR integration.
- Implement risk management strategies and contingency plans to mitigate supply disruptions.
- Lead supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and compliance with regulatory standards and ethical sourcing policies.
- Manage a geographically dispersed team and build capabilities across the function.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including service levels, costs, stockouts, and supplier performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master’s degree or professional certifications (CIPS, CPSM, CSCP) strongly preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of supply chain and procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Experience overseeing procurement operations across multiple healthcare facilities or within a health system is essential.
Proven success in leading transformation projects, cost-saving programs, and supplier consolidation initiatives.
Skills:
Strategic leadership and operational execution in complex, multi-site environments.
Deep understanding of healthcare procurement regulations, medical product categories, and quality standards.
Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and vendor performance management skills.
Proficiency with EMR systems and supply chain analytics tools.
Change management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

Fill rate and stockout incidents by location
Supplier performance (on-time delivery, compliance, responsiveness)
Network-wide standardization and compliance with procurement policies
Work Environment:
Corporate or head office setting with frequent travel to hospitals and outreach centres.
Occasional off-hours work during major transitions such as supplier changes or emergencies.
