Safety Solutions are seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to work full-time with a key client, covering the Dublin East Region (Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Louth). The role involves hybrid working, with 3 days remote and 2 days in the regional office, along with some site visits per month.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-handover inspections of projects nearing completion to identify and address any H&S operational issues before handover.
- Participate in asset delivery design review workshops and communicate IW requirements at the design stage.
- Act as Incident Liaison Officer for accidents/incidents to ensure lessons are learned and shared across the business.
- Represent IW HSQE at project kick-off meetings and provide support to the project team.
- Generate quarterly communications for contractors and Local Authority direct labour crews, contribute to the HSQE newsletter, and other communications as required.
- Coach and support IW’s key influencers in promoting safety conversations and improving safety culture.
- Conduct inspections and audits of contractors, suppliers, Local Authorities, and Irish Water facilities, and report on findings.
- Review HSQE competency assessments for Local Authorities and contractors.
- Accompany and coach external HSQE inspectors to ensure consistent standards across regions.
- Assist with the management of the HSQE inspection program and the roll-out of the SiMS system.
- Track regional HSQE incidents, analyse trends, and work with regional managers to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide guidance and specialist advice on HSQE matters to Irish Water staff and contractors.
- Support the Asset Delivery safety strategy and perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Relevant third-level qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a similar position (HSQE) in Water Services delivery or a related sector.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in conducting site inspections and audits.
- Knowledge of the Water and Wastewater industry is an advantage.
- Strong IT experience, particularly with MS Excel for report generation and data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Full driving licence is essential.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
