Organisational Background
Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) is the national organisation representing, promoting, and developing co-operative housing in Ireland. Since our foundation in 1973 we have provided nearly 5,500 homes through homeownership, shared ownership and social rented co-operatives. As an Approved Housing Body (AHB), we work with various stakeholders in the housing sector, including Local Authorities, Government, aspiring homeowners, tenants and developers. We currently manage over 5,000 properties across Ireland.
Role:
CHI is seeking to recruit a part-time, Health & Safety Officer. This role is based on a 24-hour week (flexible with working schedule). The role will be based in CHI’s Head Office Warrington Place, Dublin 2 and will report into the Head of HR. However, there will be travel involved to other CHI offices throughout Ireland.
Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Officer will proactively provide workplace health & safety advice
- Responsible for safety audits, develop & provide safety training, produce risk assessments.
- Ensuring safety statements are up to date with legislation and promoting safety awareness.
- Chair quarterly H&S employee representative group
- Keeping records and producing reports for variety of sources such as board reports, internal newsletters, insurers etc.
- Organise employee training or assessments as needed.
- To promote a safety awareness culture throughout CHI across all levels of the organisation.
Requirements:
- Previous relevant experience would be desirable.
- Relevant 3rd level qualification
- Excellent communication skills
- Discreet & professional at all times respecting confidentially.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise and work in a structured and organised manner.
