Lloyd’s is seeking to recruit a Ireland Country Manager & General Representative. The role holder is responsible for the implementation of Lloyd’s commercial strategy in Ireland in a manner that achieves Lloyd’s operational, financial and regulatory requirements and ambitions. This role within Lloyd’s Insurance Company (LIC), branded as Lloyd’s Europe, has an integral part to play in the achievement of the commercial strategy and will contribute to Lloyds’ Europe becoming a brand and a business that is admired, recognised and respected.

Principal Accountabilities:

Successfully implement Lloyd’s commercial strategy in Ireland, focused on unlocking new distribution and attracting new capital.

Act as the General Representative for Lloyd’s in Ireland in order to ensure full compliance with the local laws and regulations, fulfilling all duties necessary under the power of attorney.

Ensure operational excelling for Lloyd’s in Ireland including compliance with local relevant local laws and regulations, effective risk management and efficient processes.

Build and maintain key commercial relationships in Ireland with key stakeholders including brokers, customers , coverholders, managing agents, market associations and local regulators.

Support Lloyd’s long term European Market Strategy by connecting with key bodies and governments to enhance Lloyd’s voice in Europe, leveraging the connections of Ireland to the UK.

Monitor and analyse local market trends, competition and customer needs to inform the adaptation of commercial strategy to local market context.

Ensure Lloyd’s interests are protected including reporting and advising on any matters which may impact on Lloyd’s business.

Deliver responsibilities in line with all relevant risk appetites, policies, reporting as necessary and providing input to governance processes of LIC.

Contribute to an open and transparent culture of risk management and demonstrate a strong awareness of the risks that should be managed within the responsibilities of the role.

Support the identification of systemic issues and highlight those issues to LIC / COL risk teams and Network oversight mechanisms, as appropriate.

Skills Knowledge and Experience

Experience in business development, strategy, management consulting, underwriting, (re)insurance or related market roles – with a thorough understanding of global (re)insurance value chains, customers, distributors, global distribution practices as well as product development and market dynamics.

Track record of consistent delivery against stated objectives.

Ability to cultivate and develop sound business relationships.

Regular exposure and experience of presenting to or influencing senior external and internal stakeholder groups.

Lloyd’s market structure, operations, financial and governance structure as well as the routes into Lloyd’s for both new risk and capital.

Local market dynamics and competitive positioning of key distributors, carriers and capital providers and the broader European market.

Financial, operational and risk management considerations and requirements.

Clarity on regulatory expectations including the principles from a prudential or conduct standpoints.

Sound knowledge of legal and compliance requirements for the country.

Awareness of effective marketing and communication strategies.

Awareness of the threats and opportunities presented by digitisation, business model innovation, emerging risks, capital market and sustainability drivers.

Sales and business development skills enabling the post-holder to consistently identify win-win areas that align the interests of multiple stakeholders and influence positive action in support of Lloyd’s objectives.

Natural curiosity and drive to stay on top of development from a political, economic, technological, societal or legal standpoint that will impact Lloyd’s ability to deliver its commercial strategy for Ireland.

Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, brokers, carriers and other relevant members of the Lloyd’s ecosystem.

Business acumen, with the ability to develop and execute successful strategies.

Ability to effectively work in and develop multi-cultural teams.

Analytical, strategic thinking and decision making skills.
