Job Description
Working hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:45am - 5pm and Friday, 11:30am- 8pm.
Weekend working may also be required which would be on a rotational basis.
As a Laboratory Technician is to prepare and analyse customer food samples keeping in mind efficiency, quality and accuracy standards as required by the company.
- Ensure Compliance to the 17025 standard at all times by adhering to the in house quality procedures provided
- Ensure that all client samples are tested on time, and notify a Senior Technician / Laboratory Manager of any time delays.
- Accurately log samples into the system in a timely manner.
- Complete all documentation on time, accurately and legibly.
- Check weights and temperatures in line with company procedures.
- Keep their training sheets up to date and initiate training where possible when able to do so.
- Adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying a Senior Technician or Laboratory Manager of any discrepancies.
- Keep the laboratory area clean and tidy.
- Ensure that the laboratory is stocked with pipettes, autoclave bags etc.
- Clean laboratory equipment as required, including fridges, incubators water baths etc.
- Ensure that all sanitiser bottles and beakers are filled and changed regularly and the correct control labels are attached to them.
- Ensure that there are no reagents or media available in the laboratory that have past their expiry date.
- Ensure that all documentation relating to customer samples is filed.
- Take part in proficiency testing as instructed by a Senior Technician.
