As a lead Personal Assistant, the post holder will be expected to support the delivery of a person-centered service to our members as part of Irish Wheelchair Association services in the community.
Liaison
For the successful implementation of this role as lead Personal Assistant you will need to establish and maintain good communication with members, staff and other services supports internal and external to IWA.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support the team with monthly rosters and around leave cover. Communicate with both the IWA at Home office and Personal Assistants around cover that has been arranged.
Plan activities with the members on a regular basis, coordinate staff and liaise with venues around accessibility.
Communicate with IWA clinical team around clinical tasks and return of documentation.
Manage the member's calendar, inform PAs of upcoming appointments etc.
Ensure that all decisions and activities supporting the empowerment of our members are made in consultation with the individual and are made in the best interest of that individual.
Develop strong interagency working relationships. Attend meetings with multi-disciplinary teams and support professionals with organising meetings with members
Meet monthly with IWA at Home Coordinator and assist with PA meetings.
Monitor and evaluate support on an ongoing basis and update the Coordinator or Service Support officer as required.
Be familiar with and comply with all the Irish Wheelchair Association’s policies and procedures.
Communicate efficiently to PA’s, IWA at Home Coordinator and internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that issues relating to the Health and Safety of staff and services users are promptly addressed in an appropriate manner.
Ensure complaints, investigations and safeguarding concerns are managed in line with IWA policies and procedures.
Ensure that your responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm is a core aspect of your role and that IWA’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
Support IWA’s fundraising activities.
Carry out other duties that may be assigned to you.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
A full Major Award at QQI Level 5 in Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support, or another relevant field is essential.
A Level 6 major award or higher (such as QQI Supervisory Management Skills, BA in Social Care, BA in Applied Social Studies in Social Care, Allied Health, or a disability-related qualification) is desirable and candidates should demonstrate a willingness to pursue further education.
Previous experience in a similar support role is required.
Excellent computer and administration skills (Microsoft Office Database Management) are essential.
Knowledge and Skills
Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is required.
Previous experience and knowledge of being a person in charge.
