Mechanical Shift Technician
Location: Dublin 8
Duration: Permanent
Hours - Shift Role - The 24/7 Shift rota is:
4 on 4 off 6 block of days followed by 3 blocks of nights

Overview of the role:
Reporting directly to the Site Engineer, the post holder will work as a member of a small shift team (at times alone), and will be responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance, while operating plant in line with host site requirements and site procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with statutory, health, safety and environmental provisions. The Mechanical Technician (Shift) will be required to operate, maintain and assist in improving industrial Water Treatment plant, Ammonia Refrigeration plant, Waste Water Neutralisation treatment, C02 generation, Nitrogen generation, Compressed air, Cooling Towers, Water systems and Steam and Electrical distribution. The individual will contribute to maintaining operating procedures and safety procedures together with using and maintaining accuracy of the electronic data systems and on-site Scada (Sembyc), document management system (Know How), communication system (Email) and maintenance management systems (Pragma, CAMMS or SAP)
Day to day of the role:
Operating the plant to ensure compliance with appropriate safety and environmental standards, and statutory requirements.
Carrying out plant-related routine duties to ensure plant commercial performance, availability and reliability is maintained to SLA targets.
Application of Safe Systems of Work, such as Putting People to Work, Authorisation to Work, and site Safety Rules, which may include taking on the duties of Safety Controller, Designated Person, Issuer and Acceptor roles as required by the location manager.
Identify and repair where practicable Plant & control faults.
Record all identified plant and control faults. Using shift log and CAMMS
Application of operational, maintenance and safety systems and documentation for the plant incorporating relevant site safety standards, including carrying out the duties of Safety Controller/Safety Designated Person, Issuer and Acceptor roles as required by the location manager.
Planning, organising and supervising certain maintenance activities.
Assisting the Site Engineer on projects and outage preparation
General maintenance of plant dependent on individual’s competence
Responsibility for producing and maintaining relevant site documentation and SOPs
Liaising with internal and external customers
Taking advantage of commercial opportunities through plant operation
Required skills for this role:
Be a qualified crafts-person in Mechanical Fitting and Welding or equivalent;
Have at least 5 years proven experience in a particular craft discipline;
For technicians with a core skill of mechanical fitter, be capable of demonstrating knowledge of core craft skills in an industrial environment. Demonstrating appropriate core skill in dismantling, assembling, alignment and testing/re-commissioning of gearboxes, Process pumps, compressors, valve and pneumatic and hydraulic systems;
Have a working knowledge of Low Voltage switchgear and distribution systems and plant instrumentation and how they interface with the mechanical plant;
Be capable of carrying out the function of Grades 1 & 2 technicians as part of normal site activities;
Be capable of carrying out local isolation on all services appropriate to core craft skills;
Be capable of identifying hazards and develop method statement for their maintenance activities within the core craft skills;
Carry out the duties of Safety Controller, Designated Person, Issuer and Acceptor roles under Site Safety Rules;
Be capable of reading and interpreting plant data to enable early intervention and prevent plant failure.
Be prepared to use (with the proper training) all new technologies introduced by the company;
Properly complete work sheets and plant log book and ensure that any incomplete work is fully handed over to the incoming technician;
Have sufficient knowledge of industrial practices within core discipline to carry out fault-finding activities in a heavy industrial environment;
Have sufficient knowledge of starting and stopping industrial equipment such as pumps, fans and compressors;
Must be capable of carrying out local isolation of all services related to core skills;
