The Opportunity
We are seeking an MV/HV Project Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution Power Division in Ireland. This position will provide the lead technical support on projects, from initial enquiry and tendering right through to construction, commissioning and energisation across all STS Power Transmission and Distribution business unit. The successful applicant will be part of the Power & Renewables engineering team, affording them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience on electrical installations up to 400kV, and becoming a key influencer of this department’s direction.

Here are some of the key duties of this role:
- Lead engineering activities for the development and delivery of HV substation and related grid connection projects.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure technical compliance.
- Support procurement processes by preparing technical scopes of work and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (IEC, IEEE, EN etc.) and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support a team of engineers through the project life cycle.
- Identify any resourcing gaps/requirements for current and upcoming projects.
- Proactively Identify and communicate any project risks throughout the project life cycle.
- Liaise with the SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) on all project SHEQ matters.
Key Qualifications and Attributes Required:
- Electrical engineering qualification.
- 3+ years’ experience in electrical engineering design and/or project management
- Detailed understanding of HV and MV network requirements in industrial settings, with particular emphasis on resilience and studies requirements
- Experience with energy management systems and integration of automated control systems to electrical networks
- A proven track record of delivering projects on time and to budget
- Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong IT and reporting skills
- A flexible and delivery-focused mindset
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- Ability to motivate and encourage others whilst taking the lead.
Desirable but not Essential
- Knowledge of ESB Networks Pre-Commissioning requirements.
- Formal H&S qualifications and training, i.e. ‘IOSH Managing Safely’ or similar.
