Pricing Analyst

To achieve its ambitions, ElectroRoute wishes to continue to grow its high calibre team and is currently seeking a talented Pricing Analyst. The Pricing Analyst will join the [middle office pricing team] to structure and value a wide range of prospective energy contracts in Ireland/GB/Europe. This includes – but is not limited to – wind/solar route to market agreements (RtMs), fixed-priced power purchase agreements (PPAs), and battery energy storage system (BESS) floor and toll structures. The candidate will utilise their extensive experience to support the development of pricing and commercial structures while also featuring prominently in the growth of the origination business into new markets.

The Role

This role will see the Pricing Analyst work closely with colleagues in origination, trading and analytics across offices in Ireland and GB regarding the development of products and offerings.

The candidate’s activities will include;

  • Develop and improve pricing and valuation models for a variety of contract structures – regularly testing resulting prices against market outcomes
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of power, gas, and carbon markets
  • Monitor electricity price fundamentals and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on pricing strategies
  • Contribute to the development of existing PLEXOS models to simulate Ireland/GB market pricing and dispatch. Help build models for new markets.
  • Apply advanced modelling to support BESS valuation and optimisation
  • Work with Origination, Trading and Analytics teams to ensure a portfolio-based approach to risk-adjusted pricing
  • Routinely present comprehensive reports and insights to senior management
  • Automate routine tasks, via Python or Excel.

Role Requirements

  • 3+ years energy market experience in a pricing, trading or analytics role
  • An understanding of the operation of electricity systems and energy market rules
  • Ability to manage multiple competing deliveries – and frequently changing commercial priorities – whilst ensuring the accuracy of all output.
  • Experience using Excel, SQL, and Python to perform time series analysis on large datasets.

Desired Skills

  • Direct experience in a renewable pricing role, including Route to Market agreements, PPAs, or BESS Floors – ideally in the German or other EU market.
  • An understanding of physical parameters of wind, solar, and battery assets, and how those parameters impact contract pricing for trading offtakes.
  • Experience in developing/maintaining dispatch models (preferably PLEXOS).
  • Experience building and maintaining a shared library of Python code.
  • Knowledge of risk metrics or familiarity with concepts of risk assessment
