Hours and job summary:
The hours you will need to work for this role are 7.30am-4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am-12.30pm Friday. There may be potential for additional hours at the end of the day. Breaks are unpaid and are twice daily - 30 mins and 45 mins, there is one break on Friday.
Our production is fast paced, it requires focus and attention to detail. The work involves standing for long periods, lifting occasionally and moving/twisting and wearing PPE including hearing protection.
This is a fixed term role for the beetroot processing period September to February or March, but there will be an opportunity for permanent positions for the right candidate.

As a Production Operative, you’ll be a key member of our team, helping to make high-quality food products to our exacting standards. You’ll be hands-on in the manufacturing process, ensuring products are prepared, packed, and labelled correctly, while following strict food safety and hygiene guidelines. Key Responsibilities
Production & Processing
- When processing beetroot, the job will require inspecting beetroot, trimming tops and tails, rejecting beetroot not suitable for processing, weighing jars.
- Case packing, pallet building and depalletising jars, bottles and buckets.
- Cleaning equipment and machinery inside the production building and outside in the yard.
- Operate equipment and machinery as trained, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare, process, and package food products according to specifications.
- Ensure all products meet quality and presentation standards.
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Follow all hygiene, allergen control, and food safety procedures at all times.
- Wear the required PPE (including hearing protection).
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including regular cleaning of equipment and surfaces.
- Report any safety or quality concerns immediately.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work effectively as part of the production team to meet daily targets.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist in training new team members as required.
Record-Keeping & Compliance
- Complete production and quality check records accurately and in real time.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including HACCP and BRCGS requirements.

Experience
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing, kitchen, or factory environment is an advantage but not essential — full training will be provided.
Working Conditions
- Standing for extended periods in a production area.
- Wearing PPE (including hairnets, gloves, hearing protection, and production clothing).
- Manual handling of ingredients and products (training provided).
