ERTO serves as the contractor, responsible for delivering comprehensive services including routine and preventive maintenance, asset renewals, and upgrades, in alignment with health, safety, and environmental standards. ERTO plays a key role in coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with ISO-certified management systems, managing risks, optimizing asset performance, and implementing sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of operations. Additionally, ERTO oversees the safety documentation, change control processes, and ensures that all activities align with Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s (TII) goals for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
We are in the Dublin Tunnel Control Building on East Wall Road, Dublin 3. The position requires compliance with ethical codes, internal rules, local regulations, and health and safety rules for Egis Road and Tunnel Operation activities. This site is secure and offers parking.
About the Role

The Project Engineer will play a critical role within the Asset Management team, actively contributing to the successful planning, coordination, execution, and documentation of projects across tunnel and motorway operations. This hybrid role uniquely combines engineering oversight with the preparation and management of technical documentation, ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, and regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management:
- Coordinate and oversee project lifecycle from initiation, planning, execution, to closeout phases, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes, programmes, and budgets; managing procurement and subcontractors effectively.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Portfolio Manager, Quantity Surveyor, and Project Planner to ensure alignment with broader operational and strategic objectives.
- Ensure adherence to NEC form of contracts, project-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and delay damages clauses to maintain project integrity and value.
- Act as a primary liaison among internal departments, contractors, consultants, and the Service Manager to streamline communication and operational effectiveness.
Technical Documentation:
- Prepare, manage, and maintain critical project and operational documentation including reports, method statements, procedures, maintenance manuals, and training materials.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation, aligning with ISO55001 standards, NEC Option A contracts, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance and OT&IT teams to create clear documentation for operational and maintenance processes.
- Oversee document control processes within the Electronic Document Control System (EDCS), ensuring up-to-date, secure, and accessible records for internal and external audits.
- Support the preparation of project and monthly reports, capturing key project performance metrics, operational efficiencies, and lessons learned.
Quality and Compliance:
- Support quality management through participation in internal audits and adherence to ISO9001, ISO45001, and ISO14001 standards.
- Ensure technical documents adhere to strict quality guidelines and undergo periodic reviews and updates.
- Contribute actively to the Change Control Process, ensuring technical documentation and project scope adjustments are documented accurately and communicated effectively.
What do we need from you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Desire to learn and master NEC contracts, project management methodologies (PMBOK), and ISO standards (55001, 9001, 45001, 14001).
- Proficiency with documentation and asset management software (e.g., Maximo, M-Files).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience in technical writing and documentation management.
- Demonstrable ability to manage stakeholders and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
