dnata Catering & Retail Ireland is one of the leading providers of inflight services to the worlds airline customers. We offer a comprehensive range of Inflight Catering, Onboard Retail and Logistics services across all of the Irish airports.
The Retail Buying & Category Manager will work alongside the Merchandising, Crew Engagement and Finance Management roles and will be the direct line for the product teams. You will dynamically manage a Category Buying remit responsible for the delivery of perpetual retail programme, developing product collections and ensuring a successful delivery of the retail KPI's and strategic initiatives, which in turn feed into the business top line objectives. You will also support the development of new business opportunities and play a pivotal role in the development of new products and services pertinent to the retail business proposition.
The Role
- Responsibility for increasing the category growth and raising brand awareness - via effective product sourcing and procurement strategies. Engage the suppliers into the strategies and align them culturally to the objectives being driven.
- Responsible for creating, managing, and executing a product strategy that delivers sales and profit growth.
- Manage the category performance, delivering on KPI's set out in the budgets – developing tactical corrective action plans to address and recover any shortfalls.
- Hold ongoing weekly trading review with the wider Retail team. Highlight any potential current or future issues / opportunities.
- Lead the governance model with the customer for the ongoing retail trading performance versus the agreed KPI metrics.
- Work closely with the Merchandising teams to ensure the product ranges are on trend and delivered within the correct timeframe, available onboard and deliver to budget.
- Utilise consumer, market and competitor data and insight to define consumer segments and relevant proposition across territories, regions and varying demographics.
- Work on NDP initiatives, new product launches and defining go to market strategies at the same time maximising profitability of existing products.
- Develop and execute compelling marketing plans within all categories and sub-categories.
- Manage the digital marketing media fully to ensure the information is accurate and in line with brand image for both the supplier and customer.
- Develop Strong working relationships with the customers and supplier base.
- Manage the Buying administration with contract creation and execution.
- Preparation of the product information for range presentations.
- Ensure all the product details are captured and communicated to the merchandising, supply chain and LMP team for master data set up.
- Assist in the delivery of all documentation in line with the critical path.
- Work Closely with the Crew Engagement Manager in all aspects of Product Knowledge development, incentivisation, training, communication and recognition.
- Manage the suppliers to ensure that crew events are supported and well delivered.
- Support the development of new business opportunities – supporting the Sales Team in the development of new products and services and providing key SME knowledge for Sales Tenders and presentations.

The Requirements
- 5+ years experience o retail buying
- Experience of working within the category, product of brand function
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Attention to detail with high level analytical and numerical skills
- Flexibility with working hours, be able to work weekends when needed
- Be able to undergo 5 year background check and garda vetting
- Authorized to work full time within Ireland
