Title: Retail & Forecourt Assistant
OBJECTIVE: To delight customers by exceeding their expectations on every visit. The Retail Assistant provides ongoing support to the Management Team to ensure every customer receives the best quality, service, and cleanliness each time they visit the store. The Retail Assistant must interact with customers, staff, and management in a friendly and efficient manner to achieve this result. It is the responsibility of the Retail Assistant to carry out his/her duties in compliance with the training received and the standards set in the Employee Handbook. The purpose of the role is to serve all customer, regardless of what area they visit, in a friendly and welcoming fashion, going the extra mile to meet their needs in a clean and presentable environment. All roles require flexibility in merchandising, serving, cleaning, and ensuring a great visit for every customer every time.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Due to the sale of alcohol, candidates must be over 18.
- Previous experience is preferred.

CUSTOMER CARE
- To serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, providing an exceptional standard of customer care.
- To communicate with the customers in an effective and welcoming manner.
- To deal with customer complaints professionally and pleasant,y and refer to the store manager where appropriate.
OPERATIONAL & STORE PRESENTATION
- To accurately compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive & process appropriate payment from the customers in line with the cash register and/or cash handling policy.
- To follow company policies and procedures.
- Assist customers in bagging purchases.
- Maintain knowledge of current in-store sales and promotions.
- Answer customer queries about the store and its merchandise.
- Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits in line with the cash handling policy.
- Clean shelves & counters and sweep floors internally and externally,y ensuring the store is tidy and free from clutter at all times.
- Clean all areas of the store (including staff facilities) as directed by the assistant store manager/store manager.
- Ensure the Coffee Dock area and equipment are maintained to the required level of Hygiene, ensuring cleaning is carried out
- Maintain a clean and well-organised back store area.
- To receive and check stock in line with company guidelines.
- Ensure stock is packed in line with company merchandising guidelines, and ensure the product is stored in line with a food hygiene policy
- Update shelf-edged labels as instructed by management.
- To rotate stock appropriately minimising waste.
- To be vigilant at all times to prevent stock loss and waste.
- To conduct stock takes as instructed by the assistant store manager/store manager.
- To take care of your health & safety and that of your colleagues and customers, and take action to reduce risks and hazards.
- To help out at the Supermac’s counter when it’s busy.
FOOD SERVICE
- Preparation of food for subsequent resale in line with HACCP regulations.
- Check temperatures around the store, ensuring they are compliant with HACCP regulations.
- Maintain HACCP records in line with store policies
- Monitor Critical Control Points and ensure food is not open to contamination
GENERAL
- Any other duties that may be assigned to you by the assistant store manager/store manager.

- Working as part of a team, incorporating new trainees, and making them feel welcome.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Fast-paced, “non-stop” environment. The role can be physically demanding at times, depending on the volume of business and the number of staff available during busy periods. Teamwork is essential to ensure the procedure runs smoothly in all areas, and communication flows.
