Role Overview
- This role sits within our ILH Risk team and reports to our Non-Financial Risk Manager.
- As a second line function, the ILH Risk team has primary responsibility for independent risk oversight and effective challenge of all risk-taking decisions taken by the business (first line of defence) and delivering appropriate risk reporting to ILH Executive Risk Committees, the ILH Board and IL Group.
- The team promotes and embeds an effective risk culture and creates a consistent awareness of risk at all levels.
- The team provide risk leadership to ILH and help support delivery of the ILH Strategy.
More specific responsibilities will include
As Senior Technical Specialist - Risk, this role will require you to:
- Lead monthly/quarterly challenge and reviews of Risk and Control Self Assessments;
- Support completion and delivery of quarterly Risk Reporting to ILH Executive Risk Committees and Group Operational Risk;
- Support completion of quarterly Board papers;
- Review and challenge on ILH Risk Events reporting with a focus on helping the business to identify trends and drivers;
- Provide effective risk training to the business through the Risk Champions Forum;
- Lead the delivery of the annual ILH Control Testing Plan;
- Identify enhancement opportunities to the ILH Risk Management Framework;
- Promote a strong risk culture in ILH to ensure risk ownership and risk management are owned and prioritised by the 1st line.
What you will need to be successful in the role
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Strong experience working within a Risk or other oversight function within the Financial Services industry in Ireland
- An enthusiastic approach to work with a strong work ethic, a keen appetite to learn and develop;
- An assertive and self-motivated personality with the capacity to work autonomously, or as part of a team and across teams;
- An ability to plan work and manage time effectively to ensure timely completion of all deliverables;
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels;
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
- Data Analytics capabilities would be an advantage
- A degree in a Business or Financial Services qualification.
