Job Title: Security Guard/Officer
Contract: School Term only (end of August until end of May excluding mid-term breaks)
Hours of work: 34 hours per week, 5 days per week (Sunday to Thursday)
Monday-Thursday – 3pm - 9.30pm
Sunday – 6pm to 2am
Pay: €16.50/hour inclusive of weekend rate
Eligibility to work full time in Ireland.
Job Description:
Blackrock College is looking for a full-time PSA static guard licensed & industry experienced security officer.
You will be working in a nice and dynamic school environment.
We are looking for a staff member who wants security and permanency.
Responsibilities include:
· To adhere and implement all protocols and policies outlined.
· To maintain a high visibility presence throughout the shift while also monitoring CCTV.
· Monitor and control access to and from the site
· Perform scheduled and random checks of designated areas throughout the site to check for any security breaches
· To comply with health and safety legislation
· Ensuring all areas are monitored while on duty.
· Responding to alarms within the premises
· Patrolling the premises regularly to ensure nothing is out of place
· Liaising with law enforcement in the case of suspected or reported criminal activity
· Assisting the maintenance staff in securing an area during a maintenance emergency
· Liaise effectively with College Senior Leadership Team
· Remain calm and act professionally under pressure
You will be required to be flexible in this position and must be prepared to undertake such other duties as may be assigned to you by the College from time to time and in response to the changing needs of the College.
Skills and Qualifications:
A successful Security Guard candidate will have certain prerequisite skills and qualifications in order to fulfil their duties effectively. These skills include:
· Minimum 1 year experience as a security officer
· A valid PSA licence (static guard) is essential
· Right to work documentation is essential
· Knowledge of standard security and safety protocols
· Excellent personal appearance & hygiene
· Excellent timekeeper
· Ability to work unsupervised
· Ability to work well in a team
· Professional and presentable
· Must be reliable trustworthy vigilant and discreet.
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Physical fitness and strength
· Quick thinking and problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Good English and basic PC skills required.
