Job Description
We are seeking a business application support specialist to manage the M365 landscape.
The person with this role will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the M365 environment, including SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Power Platform.
The role requires someone that is experienced in IT support and able to manage a variety of requests for support, from basic first-line support to complex integrations with 3rd party applications.
As the project is still in the design phase, the number of users and support requests are expected to continue to grow with the project. Therefore, leadership skills and collaboration are necessary to succeed in this role as the IT Support team expands.
This role is also expected to support with the development of PowerApps and Power Automate, working with the IT projects department to scope, build and manage PowerApps and Power Automations for a variety of workstreams.
Principal Accountabilities
M365 landscape management:
- Provide first-line support for the M365 landscape, including SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Keep abreast of new M365 developments and understand the impact that these will have on the environment.
- Manage Azure Active Directory (AAD) groups, making sure that they are kept up to date.
Application Integration
- As new tools are added to the IT landscape, work with the project managers to set up SSO and other integrations with Microsoft products (e.g. Teams).
- Discuss integration requirements with the IT project managers to make sure they are captured and communicated to suppliers.
Power Platform Expertise
- Own the development of new applications being built in Power Platforms to support IT and other workstreams within the project.
SharePoint, Intranet and MS Teams Management
- Continuously assess the usage of SharePoint Intranet and MS Teams to provide assurance that the platforms are being used appropriately.
- Respond to requests for the set-up of new SharePoint/Teams environments.
Incident Management
- Act as the leading technician for helpdesk incidents relating to the M365 landscape and applications.
- Work with other members of IT support staff to coordinate and delegate tasks as necessary.
Process Improvement:
- Continually monitor and assess IT processes, such as from the helpdesk, and refine as necessary.
Knowledge Base
- Develop a knowledge base for M365 support using existing guidance provided by Microsoft and create material where customisations render existing support materials redundant.
Security & Compliance
- Work with the IT security lead to align the M365 environment with legal security standards that must be met.
- Identify vulnerabilities in the configuration and usage of M365 and work with the IT security lead to remove these issues.
Resource Management
- As the project scales up, proactively plan resourcing requirements and report these to the IT Programme Manager.
- Support the onboarding of new IT support resources onto the project.
Qualifications
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience.
- 5+ years’ experience delivering IT Support (essential)
- Proficient in integrating third-party applications using Microsoft Graph API.
- Experienced with M365, including, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experienced with PowerShell and Azure Active Directory (AAD).
- Experienced with process automation and improvement.
- Experienced configuring Microsoft Enterprise SSO for third party applications.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
Formal Education Qualifications
- Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area e.g., engineering, computer science preferred
- Level 9 Masters in relevant field would be advantageous (or equivalent masters)
