A Day in the Life
Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division in searching for a dynamic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team! This is a hybrid role with a 4 day onsite requirement. The chosen candidate will be heavily involved in supporting the design work for a critical ablation program. A Day in The Life Of:
- Complex product design activities
- Perform concept development and prototyping
- Design / develop components to be manufactured via plastic injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion and related processes
- Create and interpret analyses to determine suitability of design concepts
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff
- Incorporate risk-based decision-making into the design process
- Apply Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to all aspects of the design/development process.
- Ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables
- Grow and maintain knowledge current with related technologies
- Work with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure feasibility of high-volume assembly
- Translate VoX feedback into product requirements
- Create and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations
- Travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as required
- Present technical findings or project status to cross functional teams and management through meeting minutes, design reviews, presentations, and other means of communication
- Research, plan, design, verify, validate electromechanical products and systems
Key Skills & Experience
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's of Engineering degree and 4+ years of experience in mechanical product development or Masters of Engineering degree and 2+ years of experience in mechanical product development.
Nice to Have
- DRM Greenbelt or above
- Experience in the medical device industry
- Experience in complex mechanical system design
- Experience with plastic injection molding in a high-volume environment
- Extensive experience in 3D modeling, finite element analysis, and statistical design analysis
- Process and test method development, validation
- Formal training in Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience designing/developing catheters
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing
