The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to contribute to the development, testing and documentation for OpenStack Swift, as well as customer support and maintenance for the product.
In this role, you’ll be contributing to the development of OpenStack Swift project, of the OpenShift Operators we use for its deployment and to the development of automated testing. You will work on a variety of technologies and open source projects. Object storage has an expanding role for many application use cases and you will have the opportunity to enhance or develop deeper expertise in both the API as well as the internal of the Swift object storage open source project. As a Red Hat Software Engineer, you will become part of a distributed team collaborating and communicating with other team members and open source community developers, working independently. We are looking for people that are passionate about modern software development, continuous improvement and open source.
What you will do
- Deliver software and support for Red Hat's OpenStack Cloud product
- Develop and maintain the OpenStack Swift object storage service and the related components, provide customer support for the product
- Develop OpenShift Operators to allow for the deployment of Red Hat OpenStack Swift
- Develop CI and automated testing for Red Hat OpenStack and Swift
- Help deliver Red Hat's strategy around OpenStack Cloud deployment and management of OpenStack Swift and OpenStack storage in general
- Contribute to the writing and review of customer documentation
- Engage and assist in the resolution of software issues both internally and from external customers
- Contribute to the the quality and success of our Red Hat products and the open source communities that serve as our foundation
What you will bring
- Experience developing in programming languages like Python or Go
- Experience using Linux and debugging Linux environments
- Comfortable working with a distributed remote international team and being located in office
- Good English written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with cloud storage, OpenStack, Kubernetes and related infrastructure as a service (IaaS) technologies is a plus
- Experience with distributed systems and networking is a plus
- Experience with OpenStack and OpenShift technologies would be ideal
- Open Source community experience is a plus
