Staff Nurse - Endoscopy

Overview

Due to the exciting expansion of our endoscopy services Connolly Hospital are recruiting Endoscopy staff nurses.

The primary role of the Endoscopy Staff Nurse will be to participate in the provision of peri procedural nursing care and management of all patients presenting for endoscopic procedures. This includes patients across specialities including gastroenterology,

respiratory and surgical cases. The nurse will participate in treating all patients attending our endoscopy department including those attending for treatment in our infusion suite.

The endoscopy nurse will share responsibility with the nursing team for the management of nursing care and the patient’s environment under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager.

The endoscopy nurse will develop clinical expertise, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice and will maintain a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility.

The endoscopy nurse will ensure that high standards for healthcare are implemented and monitored. They will familiarize themselves with the policies, protocols and guidelines approved locally and nationally for safe care including the JAG accreditation guidelines.

The endoscopy nurse is responsible for the management, care and treatment of elective and non-elective patients presenting to endoscopy unit, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided at all times. The endoscopy nurse will complete all necessary training to ensure the highest standards of nursing care are delivered

Essential Criteria

Each candidate must on closing date for applications:

Professional Qualifications & Experience

• Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bórd Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or be entitled to be so registered.

And

• Have at least 2 years post registration experience. Endoscopy experience desirable however nurse’s experience in caring for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures in the medical or surgical setting will be considered.

And

• Commitment to undertake relevant endoscopy unit training as per service needs

And

• Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

Note: Post holders must maintain annual registration with Bórd Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland

Post Specific Requirements: 

• Have at least 2 years post registration experience
• Commitment to undertake relevant endoscopy unit training as per service needs
