Overview
You will direct and manage the full project life cycle, setting standards for assignments and applications. You will be responsible for the delivery of the defined work packages for a system migration programme to the client and providing effective project and change management to teams and giving guidance to others and key business users.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and direct teams ensuring that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off
- Take full accountability for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium scale projects with diverse scope
- Facilitate scoping and business priority setting for complex changes, engaging senior stakeholders as required.
- Scope of responsibility includes any and all phases of the project life cycle as well as project team management and possible budget administration
- Track resources and assure deliverables are met, negotiates effectively for key resources, and screens and selects team members
- Understanding client requirements seeking to fully address client needs, identifying, evaluating and recommending options, plus the establishment of a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence
- Demonstrate use of a structured iterative methodologies, manages scope changes and communicates the impacts, and secures approval when needed
- Ensure that realistic project plans are maintained, ensuring regular and accurate communication to stakeholders, consistent with the methods in use
- Develop project plans using standard project management tools, e.g. MS Project or Project Workbench.
- Use metrics and project plans to assess the success of the project and make necessary changes
- Conduct knowledge transfer and project post-mortem for lessons learned and improving best practices
- Identifies, quantifies and manages issues impacting delivery of projects. Establish clear goals and priorities needed to assess performance
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant third level qualification or equivalent work experience
Desirable
- Project Management qualification
- Management qualification or relevant years of experience
- Experience in life and pensions and financial services industries a plus
- Experience in system migrations involving COBAL or similar

Experience
- Demonstrated experience leading technology and infrastructure projects
- Experience deploying cloud solutions
- Experience working with operational infrastructure teams in the management of data centres, firewall management, and infrastructure maintenance and upgrades
- Experience managing complex infrastructure architecture for global organisations
- Engage with the Project Manager to understand the scope of their solution.
- Plan and coordinate the transition activities in alignment with the project delivery lifecycle.
- Assist in the definition and review of support-related Statements of Work (SoW).
- Define the detail to align the Technology solution to the standard service model, and identify and document any exceptions as part of the Service Design.
- Identify operational impacting risks throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Provide regular Service Transition status reporting.
- Identify the project documentation to be handed over to operational support teams.
- Coordinate the knowledge transfer to operational teams.
- Coordinate the activities to implement the service wrapper/model.
- Passionate and committed to delivering value and a first-class service to users and customers.
- An ‘Agile’ mindset to transition new and changing Technology solutions through iterative as well as traditional ‘waterfall’ project delivery methods.
