Porter - Theatre (39 hours permanent contract)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Porter to join the Bon Secours Health System Galway Hospital Site. Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose
Works closely with Theatre Manager and all grades of theatre staff to ensure that a high standard of patient care is maintained.
Responsible for the safe transfer of patients to/from theatres.
Responsible for safe transfer of patients on to and off operating table.
Be familiar with table positioning and accessories for the range of surgical procedures performed.
Responsible for delivery of specimens to lab and collection of blood for theatre.
Responsible for delivery/collection of articles in hospital for theatres.
Responsible for cleaning theatre furniture, anaesthetic machine and completion of appropriate documentation.
Preparation of theatre for next scheduled list with appropriate accessories as per documented speciality lists.
Complies with the Health/Safety at work Fire/Regulations and reports any faulty equipment/work hazards to Theatre Manager/Sister in Charge.
Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.
Respect and support the right of each individual to dignity in the workplace.
Participate in managing risk for patients and other staff.
Essential Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required (leaving Cert minimum requirement), but the post holder should have previous general maintenance/portering experience desirable.
The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their attitude to accommodate changes as necessary in providing continuity of patient care.
