In this role, as part of the planning team you will play a key role in planning our fleets next day delivery, ensuring all driver routes are planned effectively and efficiently. Your role will involve informing all drivers of their scheduled routes/start times for the following day and working closely with the operations team to ensure deliveries are successfully executed.
Duties and Responsibilities
The key remit within the Transport Planner (Days) role is to ensure planning is executed for next day deliveries and sharing routes and timings with the selected delivery drivers. This role also includes supporting the operations team with any queries and delivery execution. Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and liaising with drivers to ensure deliveries are completed on time
- Handling any issues arising, such as discrepancies, breakdowns, unforeseen delays, and so on
- Providing customer support as required
- Planning of next day deliveries across Ireland, using our transport management system, to ensure all routes are optimised for efficiency and timeliness
- Communicating with all drivers to ensure clarity on next day routes and timelines
- Coordinating with the warehouse team to prioritise urgent deliveries
- Ensuring that compliance requirements are met throughout the planning function
- Supporting the operations team across all operational functions, including drivers, deliveries and incidents
- Prepare relevant paperwork required for overnight and next day schedules
- Provide a smooth handover to the overnight team
Knowledge, skills and experience required (Essential)
A minimum 2 years previous experience of working within the transport industry
Previous customer service experience essential, via telephone and email
Geographical knowledge of Ireland is a requirement of the role
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate at all levels
Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload
Working to deadlines
Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
