Job Description
- Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of actuarial reports and ad hoc analysis, delivering valuable claims insights on various products and processes.
- Lead and mentor a team of trainee or data analyst, fostering their development and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Proactively manage the demand for data analysis and oversee timely delivery across the team.
- Present trends and analysis to diverse audiences to share insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and refine statistical models, including both actuarial and machine learning models, to enhance understanding of claim performance and drive process efficiencies. Regularly maintain, recalibrate, and enhance existing models to ensure their effectiveness.
- Play a key role in the development and enhancement of data assets that support advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives, contributing to the organization's analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Claims, Technology, Risk, and Pricing, to align goals and drive collective success across the organization.
- Demonstrate flexibility in the role and be open to undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the line manager as needed.
- Is flexible within the role and prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time.
- Will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in actuarial / pricing / data science related work.
- Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary with the Institute of Actuaries (or equivalent) or else display the skills required which may be obtained through other studies such as statistics, mathematics, or data science.
- Proven experience using SQL, R or Python, and Machine Learning required.
- Proficient in using code or analytical tools for modelling, visualization, data manipulation and processing.
- Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment.
- Good understanding of GLMs, machine learning models and data science process (feature engineering, modelling etc.) required.
- Autonomous, innovative, pragmatic, and able to apply known or new techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Displays ownership and accountability for ensuring work is carried out to high standards.
- Effectively contribute to team co-operation, trust & morale.
- Continual professional development through networking, educational progress, and personal development.
- Within the Data Protection Act and AXA Global Security guidelines, utilizes IT systems and packages to generate information and enhance presentation and quality of work.
