We are looking for a warm, creative, and dedicated Afterschool Educator to join our new play-based, multicultural, and multilingual afterschool program in Galway. This part-time role involves working with children aged 4–12 in a nurturing environment that celebrates diversity and encourages learning through play.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children and an interest in supporting a rich, inclusive learning atmosphere where different languages and cultures are valued and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and supervise a variety of play-based activities;
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment that supports children from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds;
- Support children’s emotional, social, and language development through positive interactions and developmentally appropriate practices;
- Promote multicultural awareness and respect through activities, celebrations, and everyday practice;
- Assist with homework support when needed;
- Communicate effectively with parents, team members, and management;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and child protection regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Early Childhood Education or a related field (desirable)
- Experience working with children in an educational or care setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Garda Vetting
- Child Protection and First Aid training (can be completed upon hiring)
Desirable:
- Fluency in or exposure to more than one language
- Experience working in a multicultural setting
- Familiarity with Aistear and Siolta frameworks
- Skills in music, drama, storytelling, sports or movement-based activities
