Job Description:
A full-time, hands-on Assistant Manager is required at a busy stud farm in County Meath. The successful candidate must have prior experience working with mares, foals, yearlings, and horses in training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assign tasks to staff members
- Prepare weanlings, yearlings, and mares for public sale, including lunging, walking, and turnout to a high standard
- Prepare stock for veterinary checks and farrier visits
- Feed and water animals according to schedules and feeding instructions
- Examine and observe animals to detect signs of illness, disease, or injury
- Perform general farm maintenance including cleaning water troughs and making small repairs
- Oversee the daily operations of the stable yard
Skills and Experience Required:
- Strong knowledge of horse care and welfare
- Experience with equine transportation
- Sound horsemanship skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Basic IT/digital literacy
- Familiarity with the racing industry is a plus
Salary:
Negotiable depending on experience
