The Organisation
Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities in the West Dublin area.
We support people with a wide range of support needs across residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.
Stewarts Care is the lead agency for two interdisciplinary CDNT teams (CDNT 5 + 6) in line with Progressing Children’s Disability Services. This position is based in CDNT6, Palmerstown.
Role Purpose
We are seeking an energetic, flexible, innovative, and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our established CDNT To provide quality, evidence-based, and family-centered psychology service to children and young people (0 – 18 years) with complex needs within an interdisciplinary framework. The post holder will provide psychological services as part of community disability network services operating within a family-centered model for service delivery.
The role of the Assistant Psychologist is to contribute to psychological and positive behavior support. They will also support clinical interventions including systematic observations and functional assessments; recording, monitoring and evaluating interventions and training programmes; contributing to evidence-based formulations and assisting with staff training and programme implementation. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and be a positive influence at an exciting time in a newly established service.
The Person
- Have a Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than a Level 8 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which psychology was a major subject.
Or
- A Level 8 honours degree in another subject (2.1) or higher) together with an accredited conversation qualification at a minimum of ( 2.1) as conferring eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Association of Ireland
Or
- A qualification equivalent to the above accredited by the British Psychological Society for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
And
- Demonstrate competence in the area of working with children and families with disabilities
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and ability, for the proper discharge of the office.
- Knowledge of the relevant children and disability-related legislation and standards of practice.
- Strong IT skills.
- Research and evaluation skills
- Experience of the inter-disciplinary team working would be an advantage.
- Experience of working with adults or children who have ASD and an Intellectual Disability would be desirable.
- Training and/or experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis is desirable.
Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health consolidated pay scales. Psychology Assistant €33,237, per annum.
