Basic Grade Pharmacist Panel
Temporary Contract, Full Time Hours.
The Basic Grade Pharmacist will report to the Chief Pharmacist or their designated person as appropriate.
Responsibilities Include:
- The supervision and supply of drugs, pharmaceutical and other related items as may be required.
- Dispensary: Routinely work in and supervise dispensary related activities.
- Participate in the Saturday dispensary service.
- Clinical Areas: Either provide, or be available to provide, clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to Cancer services, Care of the Elderly, Emergency Department, ICU, Medical, Mental Health, and Surgical.
- Medication Safety: Further develop medication safety systems and routinely participate and contribute to medication safety responsibilities and initiatives.
- Medicines Reconciliation: Routinely carry out medicine reconciliations and further expand and develop medicine reconciliation services.
- Medicine Information: Provide comprehensive and high quality medicine information services as part of clinical area, dispensary or other duties.
- Rotate into Pharmacy Cancer Services on a routine and ad hoc basis.
- Maintain throughout the hospital an awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
- Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of Mercy University Hospital (MUH).
- Participate in the pharmaceutical service as part of a professional, punctual and dedicated team.
- Help to create, promote and maintain open communications and healthy working relationships.
- Maintain the principles of equity, accountability and quality of service in daily work.
- Liaise with the Pharmacy Manager on matters concerning departmental procedures and on matters concerning safety, security, complaints concerning the service and unusual occurrences or conditions relating to drugs, drug requests, usage and their security in the hospital.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or entitled to be so registered. New Graduates with PSI Registration pending this year are welcome to apply now.
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
If you are the holder of a non-Irish qualification, please note that in order to be appointed to a post within the Mercy University Hospital, your qualifications must be verified by The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, 18 Shrewsbury Road, Dublin 4.
