Position Overview
Gain hands-on experience in business intelligence while learning how a leading energy company operates and drives performance at Calor Ireland.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Finance team. The Business Intelligence Intern role at Calor Ireland, you will be a key member of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, reporting directly to the FP&A manager, while working closely with Calor’s IT team. You will play a crucial part in supporting the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all areas of the business. Your work will help establish a performance management system for managers, enabling them to monitor and leverage these KPIs to drive business success. This role offers the opportunity to gain deep insights into Calor’s operations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide critical input that will shape decision-making and business performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), IT, and various business teams (e.g., operations, sales, marketing) to understand key processes, data sources, and business needs.
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Qlik, and Excel, to provide actionable insights and track KPIs.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of performance management systems for managers to monitor KPIs and drive business performance.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement across different areas of the business.
- Work closely with the IT team to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability for reporting purposes.
- Own and lead specific projects related to KPI development and performance reporting, while receiving guidance and support from the FP&A and Business Intelligence teams.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as required, helping to support decision-making across the business.
- Participate in on-the-job training to further develop skills in business intelligence, data analytics, and performance management
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum grade average of 2.2 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, with experience in business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Qlik being highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large data sets to extract meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present data-driven findings in a clear and concise manner.
- A self-starter with a proactive attitude and the ability to take ownership of projects while working independently.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reporting and analysis.
- Willingness to learn and adapt, with an openness to on-the-job training and continuous development in business intelligence tools and practices.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for data-driven decision-making and an interest in understanding how different parts of the business work together.
