Care Manager
We are looking for a Care Manager to join our expanding team. The role is to support and work with our Nursing Operation Manager who leads the Cork City and North Cork teams. This role will be mainly based in our North Cork office, located in Mallow. The role is part-time, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (21 Hours).
Purpose of the role
To provide high quality homecare services that support customer so they can enjoy the best quality of life. The Care Manager is directly accountable to the Nursing Operations Manager(NOM) and to any national regulatory body for domiciliary care.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the NOM support the day to day running of the business. Allocate resources and monitor performance to deliver high quality, safe and effective homecare to customers within budget. Manage all aspects of the staff team. Provide strong leadership so staff are clear about their respective duties and responsibilities and have the support they need to carry out their roles safely.
Duties:
· Responsible for the safe delivery of care in line with legislative requirements and company policy and procedures
· Undertake training and development to keep up to date with the law, best practice and changes in company policy. Apply this knowledge to day-to-day management and delivery of care.
· Maintain full and accurate records and reporting systems in accordance with legal requirements and to ensure the effective running of the business.
· Implement quality management and improvements systems. Effectively manage complaints and incidents. Carry out investigations relating to quality of the service and use findings to make improvements.
· Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure the safe delivery of the service.
Professional/ Clinical Responsibilities
· Promote the rights of each customer and keep their wishes at the centre of their care and support
· Ensure that prior to each service commencing there is a full assessment of each customer’s needs and associated risks is carried out. Identify what the customer would like to achieve from their care and support
· To develop and promote good relationships with customers, families and carers and this a holistic approach to care
· Ensure the business creates, with the customer/or their chosen representatives, a written tailored care and support plan that respects the customer’s wishes and promotes their dignity and privacy. Ensure the plan includes appropriate risk control and measurements to reduce the risks.
· Provide the customer, and where appropriate their representatives with information about the service so that they are clear about what to expect and howe they can raise any concerns.
· Apply excellent communication skills with customers, their families and representatives, staff and other health and social care professionals to deliver high quality homecare and services.
· Keep all information about customers, their representatives and their families secure and confidential except where policy requires you to share to protect the interests of our customers.
· To liaise and report on a regular basis with our Nursing Operations Manager on all aspects of care.
· To be familiar with and act according to Nursing and Midwifery Board Ireland professional code of conduct.
· To be responsible for personal professional development.
Lead and manage staff
· Ensure there are sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff allocated appropriately to always meet service needs. Implement company policy and procedure in relation to managing absence, disciplinary, capability and grievance matters.
· Provide information and guidance to enable staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles.
· Ensure all emergency oncall issues are dealt with effectively, such as covering calls either directly and indirectly when care assistant is sick or absent.
Promote the Business
· Attend external meetings and represent the service in a positive manner
· Participate in the growth and development of the business. Work with the franchise owner to achieve key performance targets.
Essential Criteria
· A nursing qualification is essential, A Registered Nurse on the Live Register of NMBI and 5 years post qualification experience
· Good understanding of Clinical Governance and responsibilities
· Excellent understanding of the needs of people who require care and support at home and the provision of homecare services in line with best practice
· Good understanding of the regulatory responsibilities of the HSE and HIQA and the law relation to homecare services.
· Knowledge of health and safety matter and risk management in relation to homecare.
· Knowledge of how to recognise abuse and of safeguarding procedures
· Excellent communication skills
· Experience of care services, risk assessment and individual care and support
· Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively so customers receive the service they expect.
· Ability to make sure Bluebird Care’s policies, procedures and instructions are implemented effectively across the business
