Job Summary
To support and assist the management team in the provision of full-time day-care to a high quality in a holistic setting for children from ages 1 year to 6 years of age.
Main Objective
To ensure that high standards of care, education, safety, and well-being of the children in our setting are met, in collaboration with the settings management and staff team. Our Childcare Educator's assist in providing a safe, age and developmentally appropriate environment by implementing early learning programmes and care protocols in accordance with all relevant early-years legislation, and the settings policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Be willing to work with children of various age groups; from 1 years to 6 years of age,
- Perform a variety of tasks, such as nappy changing, toileting, feeding, nap supervision, cleaning and sterilising, and engaging and planning of play activities,
- Conduct developmental observations of children under the direction of the management team,
- To always follow the policies and procedures of the service,
- Co-ordinate the implementation of activities suitable for different age groups,
- Maintain room and equipment, to always ensure the health and safety of children,
- Ensure a particularly good standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained, by cleaning interactive areas and learning equipment throughout the day,
- Organise materials and toys for the benefit of children.
- Support children’s developments – emotional, social, physical, communication and cognitive, in carrying out activities.
- Work in partnership with the other team members in implementing a broad, balanced, age and developmentally appropriate early years curriculum which references Aistear the National Curriculum framework and Siolta, the National Quality Standards.
- Work in partnership with parents to ensure that they feel connected and part of their child’s early learning journey at Little People’s Academy,
- In conjunction with the staff team, assist in the development of long, medium, and short-term curriculum plans for the early years setting.
- To attend staff and room meetings and encourage commitment to quality improvement through ongoing professional development and training.
- Respect and encourage the rights of the child; allowing where possible, them to lead their care and learning and to make decisions that directly involve them by using various modes of communication suitable for their age and development.
- Be aware of child protection procedures and advise the manager should you have any concerns about a child.
- Maintain strict confidentiality,
- Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

This position is subject to a Garda Vetting Disclosure, Police Clearance, where necessary, and verification of at least 2 references, with one of those being from the most recent employer.

Pay: €14.00-€15.50 per hour
