Position: Clinical Governance Manager
Reporting to: Head of Older Persons Services
Location: Various Sites (Mount Tabor NH, Margaretholme &
Ailt an Oir Independent Living sites).
Employment Status: 39 hrs week (some remote working will be considered after probationary period)
Role Overview:
The Clinical Governance Manager will support the Clinical Teams in Mount Tabor Nursing
Home with clinical governance, audit and risk management, policy management and staff
Development. They will in reach and support our independent living sites with governance,
audit and preparation for implementation of HIQA Standards/Regulations for Home
Support Services.
The role will also include providing leave cover for our Head of Older Persons.
Key Requirements/Competencies:
· Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a quality role with the nursing home and /or
healthcare sector at Clinical Nurse Manager II level.
· Have a strong track record in administrative practice with the ability to complete high level care reviews, investigations and reports as required.
· Have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
· Computer and office systems experience with strong Microsoft Office essential.
· Excellent communication skills with a flexible and innovative attitude to the role.
· Have the ability to see opportunity for improved quality practice and efficiency within our services.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Governance
· Review the monthly clinical KPI report as produced by the Director of Nursing looking at any clinical trends that may require more detailed review.
· Provide a quarterly analysis report for the CEO and Director of Nursing on clinical KPI trends, clinical audit, risk management and policy review.
· Assist the Director of Nursing with the Annual Review for the nursing home as required by HIQA.
· Attend the Quality Safety and Risk Sub Committee of the board as required.
· Assist with the governance and oversight of care plans for residents in our independent living sites to ensure HSE Compliance.
Clinical Audit
· Develop and oversee the annual audit schedule for the sites
· Ensure that areas of quality improvement are contained within the audit schedule and that frequency of audits corresponds with any areas of risk that may have been identified.
· Work with the site managers in assigning audits to be completed within the clinical team.
· Assist with the completion of audits as required.
· Maintain the audit action plans and ensure they are followed through.
Risk Management
· Ensure the local risk registers are kept up to date and reviewed every quarter.
· Work with the site managers to ensure any risks of concern are well documented, reported to the relevant external agencies and escalated as required to the CEO and Senior Management Team.
· Carry out risk assessments as required completing the relevant risk assessment tool in practice.
Policy Management
· Oversee & support with policy development for all sites.
· Ensure policies are kept up to date, reflect appropriate legislation and practice and that reviews include document control management.
Staff Development
· Support the site managers in continuous education on areas that require same.
· Identify areas of staff training and development including shared learning from Audits/KPIs, liaise with the Head of Older Persons and Head of People for DCM to ensure ongoing staff development.
Leave Cover Head of Older Persons
· Provide leave cover for this management role as required.
· This will involve giving management support to 3 older persons sites and supporting the local teams with operational issues that may arise.

communication, administrative, and organisational skills, and the ability to maintain a
balance among multiple priorities.
