Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Turning Operator to set up and operate CNC lathes to produce high-precision turned components. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC turning centers, tooling setup, and quality inspection in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC turning machines to produce parts to specification.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges).
- Maintain accurate production records and complete job documentation.
- Conduct routine maintenance and report any machine issues or malfunctions.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience operating CNC turning machines (e.g., lathes, turning centers).
- Familiarity with CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with multi-axis turning or live tooling.
- Knowledge of different materials (e.g., steel, aluminum).
- Familiarity with CAM software or CNC programming basics.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
