Job Summary:
Our reputable client a leading clinic in Co. Mayo is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Consultant Cardiologist with a subspecialty in Interventional Cardiology. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive, patient-focused cardiology team delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within a leading Irish healthcare facility. The successful applicant will play a key role in providing interventional cardiology services, including invasive coronary diagnostics and procedures, and will contribute to the ongoing development of our acute and elective cardiac care services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical care in all aspects of general cardiology with a particular focus on interventional cardiology, including coronary angiography, PCI, and related procedures.
- Participate in the hospital's 24/7 primary PCI service, including on-call rota.
- Contribute to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, including participation in MDT meetings.
- Provide leadership in service development initiatives within the interventional cardiology unit.
- Teach, mentor, and supervise non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs), medical students, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, research, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Medical degree and completion of Higher Specialist Training (HST) in Cardiology.
- Fully registered on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in Cardiology.
- Fellowship or substantial training in Interventional Cardiology, including independent practice in diagnostic and therapeutic coronary procedures.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership in a hospital setting.
- Extensive experience as a Consultant Cardiologist in a clinical setting
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with structural heart interventions or advanced coronary imaging (IVUS/OCT) is advantageous.
- Active involvement in clinical research and/or academic teaching.
- Proven track record in service development or quality improvement.
- Familiarity with national cardiac care guidelines and participation in national cardiac registries.
