Job Title: Dairy Farm Worker

About the Farm:
We are recruiting on behalf of a progressive, large-scale dairy farm located in South Laois, milking a high-performing herd using a modern rotary parlour system. There is a keen focus on animal welfare, milk quality, and sustainable farm management practices. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Dairy Farm Worker to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating a high-capacity rotary parlour during milking sessions (morning and evening).
- Assisting with daily herd health checks and reporting any concerns.
- Calf rearing and care of young stock.
- Feeding livestock and managing feed systems.
- General farm duties including cleaning, fencing, and machinery operation.
- Record-keeping related to animal health, milk production, and treatments.
- Working closely with the farm manager and team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Providing cover on Sundays as needed (on a rotational or agreed basis).
Requirements:
- Previous experience working on a dairy farm is required.
- Experience operating or assisting in a rotary parlour is an advantage.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Good animal handling skills and an understanding of dairy cow behaviour.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
- Basic understanding of farm hygiene and biosecurity practices.
- Flexibility to work weekends and longer hours during busy periods (e.g. calving season).
