Vhi Group Services DAC have a full-time permanent position for the role of Data Protection Lead based in Dublin on a hybrid basis. The successful candidates will aid the Data Protection Manager and DPO in dealing with data protection matters across the entire group of Vhi companies. The role will involve working closely with the 1st line across the Vhi group.

Managing data protection activities as follows:
- Perform Data Protection Impact assessments (DPIAs) or Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
- Perform Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs)
- Assist the Data Protection Analysts with follow up actions deriving from complex DPIAs.
- Maintaining and implementing: Records of Processing Activities, data protection policies, procedures and standards across the Vhi group.
- Developing and managing data protection content for: consents, customer/patient literature and other documentation.
- Assist with subject access requests (SARs)
- Managing personal data breach including reporting the Data Protection Commission when necessary.
- Undertake trends analysis and lesson learned for personal data breaches and provide guidance to the business on root causes of personal data breaches.
- Dealing with customer rights queries (in line with Vhi Group’s policies and procedures).
- Support data protection co-ordinators and report on the standard of compliance with DP regulations and policy across the company
- Planning and performance of data protection audits and monitoring.
- Developing and delivering tailored training on data protection.
- Managing and responding to data protection queries arising from the business (or externally) and ensuring that replies are in line with Vhi Group’s policies and procedures.
- Assist the DP Department and/or the business with ad hoc projects as required.
- Evaluate prospective vendors’ data protection requirements for the implementation of new systems and technologies, and liaising with vendors in order to ensure their compliance with data protection.
- Review, draft and liaise with stakeholders in relation to data protection provisions, personal data processing agreements and data sharing agreements, particularly in relation to international data transfers and Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements.
- Assist teams in: development of DP frameworks and processes for new and existing projects that are aligned to data protection policies and best practice; creation of data and process flows; identification of data protection regulatory exposures; problem-solve complex data protection issues.
- Provide reports and update to Data Protection Manager and DPO.
- Keep up to date with data protection related legislation, guidance and case law in particular as they pertain to insurance/healthcare /medical environment.
Key Criteria
Education and Knowledge
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- A 3rd level degree preferably in a legal field and a good knowledge of Data Protection Laws.
- Data Protection qualifications (CIPP/E as a minimum).
- Experience in insurance highly desirable
Interpersonal skills
- Experience of managing DPIAs and associated assessments
- Excellent communication skills - verbal, written & presenting. Strong technical writing skills, particularly in data protection and law
- Strong inter-personal skills with proven ability to build relationships across department boundaries and functions
- Must have experience in dealing proactively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on identifying issues and finding solutions.
- Proven organisational capability and high levels of personal effectiveness with meticulous attention to detail
- Proven analytical mind with excellent problem solving skills
- Strong IT skills and ability to work with IT systems, proficiency in MS Office
- Proven resilience, highly motivated individual with strong work ethic, an enthusiastic self-starter, with proven ability to work both independently and within teams and to bring others along
