DUTIES
· Providing a safe, welcoming, rich learning environment for children and their families
· Ensuring planned activities meet each child’s developmental age and stage
· Provide a stimulating and varied programme of activities to the group using child led interests for planning
· Observing children during the session noting new milestones reached
· Plan, review and implement a programme appropriate to the individual and group needs using Aistear and Siolta
· Listen to and encourage all children as appropriate
· Involve children and parents in the planning of activities
· Encouraging and supporting partnership with parents/guardians
· Get involved on the ground (or at the child’s level) during activities
· Suggest new ideas for sessions
· Adhere to all policies and procedures
· Observe all procedures required in terms of health and safety and good childcare practice and ensure others are made aware of and observe same as appropriate
· Respect children from different backgrounds, cultures and religions
· Ensure that children with additional needs are integrated into the group
· Choose, organise, and present furniture, equipment, and materials for children in a way that stimulates learning
· Ensure furniture, equipment, and materials and sterilised and in good working order
· Assist in ensuring the premises is always safe and maintained to a high hygienic condition
· Prepare regular and specific records/reports as required
· Participate in in-service and certified training as appropriate
· Meet with management as required
· Support and have good communication with colleagues and staff
· Ensure the administrative duties connected with the room including keeping attendance records, completing daily, weekly, and monthly reports are all kept up to date
· At all times keep completely confidential all personal information learned in the course of work, regarding children, families, and staff. Such information should only be passed on in the interest of the child and in line with the child protection policy
· Any other duties as assigned by the manager/owner
