Job Description:
A well-established farm near Dunboyne, County Meath, is currently recruiting for a Farm Manager Assistant to support operations across its beef, tillage, and equine activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day responsibilities and assist with the landscaping of residential areas on the estate.
Candidates with hands-on farm management experience in Ireland or the UK are especially encouraged to apply.
Core Purpose of the Role:
To maximise productivity and profitability of the farm by planning and organising all key farming and landscaping activities, making efficient use of resources and supporting the farm team in daily operations.
Reporting To:
Farm Manager and Estate Owner
Key Responsibilities:
Farm Operations:
- Support in fattening cattle for market and ensuring high-quality beef finishing
- Monitor livestock health and welfare, including veterinary care and feeding
- Manage cropping and grass rotations in line with farm stocking requirements
- Maintain buildings, fences, drains, and tracks using in-house resources when possible
- Purchase farm supplies (seed, feed, fertiliser, etc.)
- Operate tractors and farm machinery; carry out haymaking, silage, slurry spreading, and topping
- Assign and oversee daily and weekly tasks for farm staff
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date farm records
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience on a large beef/tillage farm
- Practical skills in worming, vaccinating, de-horning, and herding
- Experience with sheep management is a plus
- Competent in operating various types of farm machinery
- Strong work ethic, high motivation, and a genuine passion for agriculture
