Job Title: Fire and Life Safety Technical Sales

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Fire and Life Safety Technical Sales professional to support and promote the range of fire alarm and life safety products supplied by KD Electronics. This is a hybrid technical and sales support role, ideal for someone with a strong background in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection systems who is looking to apply their expertise in a customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Site Engagement
- Conduct on-site radio surveys for wireless fire alarm systems to assess suitability and design requirements.
- Assist with commissioning of wireless, wired, and aspirating fire detection systems on customer sites.
- Attend customer sites and exhibitions alongside the KD Business Development Manager to provide live product demonstrations and technical insights.
- Handle incoming technical support calls and troubleshoot technical queries from customers.
- Provide remote diagnostics and support, including dial-in sessions for system configuration and fault resolution.
- Support customers with system functionality, integration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
Product Demonstration & R&D
- Build and maintain demonstration boards and portable demo kits for use in training sessions, exhibitions, and internal events.
- Support in-branch demonstrations at KD locations in Cork and Dublin.
- Research and test new equipment ahead of promotion to ensure performance, reliability, and compatibility.
Internal Sales & System Design
- Build quotations, interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and customer specifications to ensure accurate system proposals.
- Verify system designs are compliant with current standards and manufacturer recommendations, including completing loop calculations where necessary.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in installation, commissioning, or maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Strong understanding of both wired and wireless detection systems, as well as aspirating detection.
- Experience with multiple fire system brands (knowledge of brands KD Electronics distributes is an advantage).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency with PC-based configuration tools and remote support technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with customers both on-site and remotely.
- Full clean driver’s license and willingness to travel across Ireland for site visits and exhibitions.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in technical sales or pre-sales support role.
- Knowledge of Irish fire safety regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with CAD software or design tools used in fire alarm system planning.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.
