Job Summary:
As a Goods Inwards Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely receipt and accurate recording of all incoming goods, including books, toys and games, library supplies, and school supplies. You will work closely with our suppliers, and individual departments, to manage the inventory and maintain a well-organized Goods Inwards area. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be vital to our success in delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspecting Deliveries:
- Receive incoming goods, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Inspect packages for damages, discrepancies, and signs of tampering.
- Document any issues or discrepancies and promptly notify the appropriate teams.
2. Stock Management:
- Accurately record received goods into the inventory management system.
- Label and organize items appropriately for efficient storage and retrieval.
- Conduct regular stock checks to ensure inventory accuracy and assist with periodic stocktaking.
3. Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Prepare and maintain records of received goods, including invoices, delivery notes, and related paperwork.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation.
4. Collaborative Communication:
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with deliveries.
- Communicate with the departments to ensure the timely transfer of received goods to shop floor.
5. Organization:
- Assist in organizing the Goods Inwards department layout to optimize storage space and facilitate easy access to goods.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the workspace, promoting a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Secondary level or equivalent; additional relevant education or certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a bookshop, library supply, or school supply business.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy boxes or packages.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From €13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37.5 per week
