About the role
The Group Financial Risk Actuary sits within Monument Re’s Group Risk function providing 2nd line oversight of Monument’s financial risks including solvency, liquidity and ALM risks. Reporting into the Group Senior Financial Risk Manager, this role includes coordination and oversight of stress and scenario testing, providing second line assurance regarding year-end and monthly financial reporting process and output as well as providing assurance that models and data used within Monument Re are fit for purpose and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor the implementation and continuous improvement of Monument’s ERM framework including enterprise-wide risk management strategies, policies, and metrics aligned with Monument's strategic objectives.
- Lead development and monitoring of risk appetite statements and thresholds to ensure alignment with strategic goals and regulatory expectations including coordinating escalation of risk breaches and emerging trends to governance committees.
- Coordination of Monument’s annual group solvency self-assessment (GSSA) process including production of the annual GSSA report and ensuring alignment of the GSSA processes to the business strategy and other elements of the risk management framework.
- Maintenance of Monument’s recovery planning framework including updating and enhancing the Group’s Recovery Plan, oversight and challenge of Group-level operational resilience and coordination of regular testing and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive risk reporting frameworks, delivering timely insights and updates to the Board, senior leadership and other stakeholders in relation to Monument’s risk profile in relation to key risks and potential emerging risk exposures
- Partner with other teams within the Group Risk Function such as Financial, Investment, Cyber and Operational Risk to support integrated and effective risk oversight.
- Lead thematic reviews, emerging risk analysis, and deep dives into priority risk areas as required.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory developments to continuously enhance the risk management framework
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within Monument Re legal entities. Manage and support the successful operation of risk and oversight across the wider Group alongside other members of the Group Risk Function.
Role Requirements
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices;
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations under Solvency II and/or BMA regulations;
- Previous experience of enterprise risk management within a regulated financial services company;
- Ability to distil information and apply judgement;
- Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
