About the Role
SolarSmart Energy Ltd is at an exciting stage of rapid growth, and we’re looking for a strong, experienced leader to join us as Head of Installation Operations. Based in our head office and warehouse in Clonshaugh, you’ll be responsible for managing and scaling a talented team of electricians and roofers, while ensuring smooth, high-quality installations across residential and commercial projects.
You’ll be the driving force behind our installation, quality control, team development, and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on solving problems, building strong teams, and delivering exceptional solar installations.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and grow the current team of electricians and roofers, scaling to meet business growth.
- Foster a strong, motivated team culture with high installation standards.
- Coordinate and manage sub-contractors, ensuring alignment with SolarSmart’s quality expectations.
- Cover shortfall periods and support teams as needed (expect to be at least two days a week on installations leading by example)
- Identify any training requirements needed for team members.
Project & Site Management
- Conduct and oversee detailed site surveys (domestic & commercial).
- Identify installation needs: cable routes, roof measurements, optimisers, customer-side prep, and access issues.
- Provide briefing to electrical teams for technically complex jobs.
- Flag problematic sites and carry out follow-up visits as required.
- Ensure documentation and instructions are accurate and available for the project management team.
Client & Internal Communication
- Liaise with sales to refine quotes based on site visits.
- Communicate clearly with clients on the day of install regarding any last-minute changes.
- Note and communicate site-specific requirements via job calendar or project systems.
- Support seamless communication between install teams, sales, and operations.
Standards & Systems
- Set installation standards and processes aligned with SEAI guidelines and our current quality levels.
- Liaise with purchasing where nonstandard equipment is required.
- Handle post-installation support (e.g., app, WiFi, Myenergi troubleshooting) for customers under warranty.
Key Requirements
- Electrician with a valid QC number
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the solar PV industry
- Minimum 3 years of team or people management experience
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel
- Safe Pass certification
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills
- Proven ability to lead by example, solve problems, and build a high-performing team
- Health & Safety awareness
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Process driven with excellent time management skills
- Familiarity with solar energy software platforms
- SEAI-related compliance experience
- Strong spoken and written English

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From €70,000.00 per year
